Full body waxing removes hair from the root with warm wax instead of cutting it at the surface like a razor. It is a cosmetic service, not an FDA regulated procedure, though the FDA regulates the products used. We wax brows, face, underarms, arms, legs, back, chest, bikini and Brazilian.

Because the bulb comes out with the shaft, the follicle has to rebuild from scratch. That buys three to six weeks of smooth skin, and staying on a four to six week schedule brings regrowth back finer. Patients weighing a longer term option often compare waxing with laser hair reduction.

What to Know

Common Waxing Side Effects

Redness, warmth and mild tenderness are normal and usually settle within two to twenty four hours. Small raised bumps around the follicles are common in the first hours, especially along the bikini line and underarms. A few patients see pinpoint bleeding in coarse hair areas, and skin can feel tight or dry for a day.

Less Common Reactions

Ingrown hairs are the most frequent nuisance and respond well to regular gentle exfoliation. The American Academy of Dermatology publishes the prevention guidance we teach. Folliculitis, contact irritation from the wax resin, temporary pigment change in deeper skin tones and small lifted patches of skin can also occur, most often when retinoids or recent sun exposure are involved.

Waxing can trigger a cold sore around the lip in patients with a history of them.

About the Brazilian Wax

A Brazilian removes hair from the entire intimate area, front to back, with the option to leave a strip or triangle if you prefer. It is the most detailed wax we perform, runs about 30 to 45 minutes, and takes place in a private room with draping and clear communication at every step.

Your first Brazilian is typically the most sensitive, and most patients find the second and third noticeably easier as hair grows back finer. A bikini wax is the lighter alternative, staying outside the swimsuit line.

How long does a wax last?

Does waxing hurt?

Can men get waxed?

The technique and the aftercare are the same, and the room stays private. Coarser hair can mean slightly more sensitivity on a first appointment.
Will waxing give me ingrown hairs?
Waxing causes fewer ingrown hairs than shaving, but they can still happen. The fix is exfoliation: restart a gentle scrub or a chemical exfoliant about three days after your wax and keep it up two or three times a week. Avoid tight clothing right after your appointment, and tell your aesthetician if you are prone to them so she can adjust.
Can I get an eyebrow wax and a body wax in the same visit?
Yes, and most patients do. Booking your brows alongside legs, underarms or a Brazilian saves you a trip and keeps everything on one schedule. Can I be waxed during my period?
Yes, as long as you are wearing a tampon or menstrual cup for a bikini or Brazilian service. It is a routine part of scheduling and nothing to feel awkward about. Skin is often more sensitive in the days right before and during your period, so if timing is flexible, booking a week after tends to be more comfortable.
