InMode Empower: The Technology Behind Feminine Wellness Treatments

InMode's Empower platform powers several feminine wellness treatments. What VTone, Forma V and Morpheus8V each do, and how Emfemme 360 fits alongside them.

Feminine wellness is a vague phrase for a category that is not vague at all. Nearly every treatment in it runs on one of two mechanisms: radiofrequency that heats tissue to prompt new collagen, or electrical stimulation that contracts muscle to rebuild strength. InMode's Empower platform does both, which is how one system covers complaints as different as vaginal dryness and bladder leaks.

What the Empower Platform Actually Is

Empower RF is a base console that accepts several applicators, each with its own mechanism and its own FDA clearance. A clinic adds the handpieces that suit its patients. That explains what women find confusing here: treatments that sound alike act on different tissue in different ways.

Radiofrequency passes current through tissue, and resistance turns it into heat. Held at a controlled temperature, that heat signals fibroblasts, the cells that build collagen, to lay down fresh support over the following weeks. Electrical stimulation instead bypasses voluntary effort and fires the muscle directly. Radiofrequency changes tissue quality. Stimulation changes muscle strength.

VTone: Retraining a Weakened Pelvic Floor

VTone is the electrical stimulation applicator, and it is what we reach for when the problem is urinary. It is FDA cleared for intravaginal electrical stimulation and neuromuscular re-education of pelvic floor muscles, for stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence in women.

The probe sits internally and contracts the pelvic floor for you, at an intensity raised only as far as you find comfortable. A session runs about 40 minutes with no numbing and no downtime. Strength builds across roughly six sessions, and the muscles can feel worked afterwards.

The wider evidence for pelvic floor training, with or without stimulation, points to one conclusion: this is muscle rehabilitation, and it fades without upkeep. If leaking is your main concern, our page on urinary incontinence treatment in Lake Havasu City covers what to try first.

Forma V: Controlled Heat for Tissue Quality

Forma V is the radiofrequency workhorse. Internal and external applicators warm tissue to a target temperature and hold it there, with a real time readout that keeps the provider inside a therapeutic window instead of guessing. Too little heat does nothing, and uncontrolled heat is how injuries happen.

Sustained warming improves blood flow and drives collagen remodeling. Patients describe steady internal warmth rather than pain, and there is no recovery period. Because Forma V also treats external tissue, it suits women whose symptoms are not confined to the vaginal canal. Change shows around two to four weeks and develops for two to three months.

Morpheus8V: Going Deeper

Morpheus8V combines microneedling with fractional radiofrequency. Insulated needles deliver energy below the surface, creating controlled columns of thermal injury at a set depth while leaving the tissue between them intact to speed healing. It is the only option here with real downtime.

Topical numbing goes on beforehand. Afterwards, expect mild swelling, light spotting, and a few days avoiding intercourse, tampons, pools and the lake. The FDA has issued a safety communication on radiofrequency microneedling devices covering burns, scarring and nerve injury.

Where Emfemme 360 and Emsella Fit

Two devices in our women's health lineup are not InMode, and it is worth saying so rather than folding everything under one brand. Emfemme 360 is a BTL device delivering radiofrequency evenly around a 360 degree applicator, often in under ten minutes with no downtime. The Emsella chair used for pelvic floor therapy is also BTL: you sit fully clothed while an electromagnetic field contracts the pelvic floor.

Having both manufacturers under one roof is practical rather than a selling point: the conversation starts with your symptoms, not with whichever machine the clinic owns. Our page on vaginal rejuvenation in Lake Havasu City compares all four devices side by side.

Being Honest About the Evidence

No device is FDA cleared under the phrase vaginal rejuvenation, and we will not tell you otherwise. Applicators hold clearances for narrower uses, and the FDA cautioned in 2018 about marketing that overstates what has been demonstrated.

The literature reflects that caution. Reviews of energy based treatments for genitourinary symptoms report meaningful improvement in many patients alongside small studies and few controlled trials. So we describe them accurately: comfort, moisture, tone and bladder control often improve, results are not permanent, and no responsible provider promises an outcome.

Who Should Not Book Yet

Candidacy is decided at a consultation after a full history, not from an article. Some situations are clear. Wait if you are pregnant, recently postpartum or breastfeeding, and treat an active infection first. Bleeding after menopause, bleeding between periods, pelvic pain, a mass, a vulvar lump or an overdue Pap test need a gynecologic evaluation. Those findings require a diagnosis, not a device.

Significant prolapse, a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, an IUD in place, and any history of pelvic radiation or gynecologic cancer must be raised before scheduling. Our medical director reviews your history and screening status first, and refers out when that is the right call.

These treatments also sit alongside hormone therapy rather than replacing it. See our wider wellness services in Lake Havasu City.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Forma V and Morpheus8V?

Forma V heats tissue from the surface with temperature controlled radiofrequency and has no downtime, which makes it a sensible starting point for mild laxity and dryness. Morpheus8V delivers energy below the surface through insulated microneedles, so it remodels deeper tissue, but it needs numbing and a few days of recovery.

Does VTone treat the same thing as the Emsella chair?

Both strengthen the pelvic floor, but delivery differs. VTone uses an internal probe and direct electrical stimulation. Emsella uses an electromagnetic field through the seat of a chair while you stay clothed. Which suits you depends on your symptoms and how you feel about an internal device.

Are these treatments painful?

Mostly no. Forma V and Emfemme 360 feel like steady internal warmth, and VTone feels like a pulsing contraction raised only as far as you are comfortable. Morpheus8V is the exception and needs numbing, after which it reads as pressure with brief prickling.

How many sessions will I need?

Most plans run three to six. Radiofrequency is usually a short series spaced a few weeks apart, VTone is six sessions over about three weeks, and Morpheus8V is often one to three. Insurance covers none of it, and Cherry and CareCredit financing are available.
