The Top 3 Skin Tightening Treatments to Try in Lake Havasu

Emface, Morpheus8 and RF microneedling all firm loose skin, but they work on different layers. Here is what each one does, what recovery looks like, and how to choose.

Collagen production begins to slow in your mid twenties and keeps falling by roughly one percent a year after that. Add two decades of Havasu sun, lake afternoons and dry desert air, and the change tends to show up in a predictable order: the jawline blurs first, the cheeks flatten, and eventually the skin on the neck stops springing back the way it used to.

The useful thing to know is that you are not choosing between doing nothing and booking surgery. Three non surgical treatments do most of the work at Desert Oasis Wellness and Med Spa, and they are not interchangeable. Each one targets a different layer of the face.

This guide explains what each one does, what it feels like in the chair, and which concern it actually suits, so you arrive at a consultation already knowing what to ask.

For the clinical background on why skin loosens in the first place, our page on skin tightening in Lake Havasu City covers the causes, the grading and the full treatment menu.

The Short Version

If you only read one part of this article, read the table. It is the same summary our providers sketch out on paper during a consultation.

Emface: Treating the Muscle, Not Just the Skin

Most facial treatments address skin quality and stop there. Emface is unusual because it works on the muscle underneath at the same time. The device delivers two energies through flat pads placed on the forehead and cheeks: radiofrequency, which warms the deeper skin so fibroblasts build fresh collagen and elastin, and HIFES, short for High Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation, which contracts the muscles far harder than you could ever contract them voluntarily.

That second part matters more than people expect. The muscles that hold the midface and brow lose tone with age, and when the scaffolding weakens, everything resting on it drifts downward. Strengthening those muscles lifts the tissue above them, which is why the result reads as a lift rather than a smoothing. There are no needles, no numbing cream and nothing injected, so there is nothing to bruise.

The session itself is easy. You lie back for 20 minutes, feel a warmth that most patients compare to a hot stone massage, and feel your cheeks and lips twitch rhythmically with the pulses. It is odd for the first minute and then unremarkable. Some patients fall asleep. You drive yourself home and go straight back to work or the gym.

The standard protocol is four sessions one week apart, and consistency genuinely matters here. Early firmness shows up around two to four weeks, contour changes become visible around four to six weeks, and results peak near the twelve week mark as collagen matures and muscle tone builds.

Most patients hold results for about a year with a maintenance session every three to six months. Full protocol details and candidacy criteria live on our Emface treatment page.

Morpheus8: The Deepest Non Surgical Option

When laxity has moved past the early stage, or when scarring and texture are part of the picture, Morpheus8 is usually the answer. It is a fractional radiofrequency microneedling device from InMode that pushes ultra fine insulated needles through the surface and releases bipolar radiofrequency into the dermis and the fat layer beneath, at depths set from surface level down to about four millimeters.

Two things happen at once. The heat, around 43 degrees Celsius, causes existing collagen fibers to contract, which gives an early tightening effect. It also signals fibroblasts to build new structural protein over the following three to six months, which is where the real remodeling comes from.

Because the needles are insulated and release their energy below the epidermis rather than at the surface, Morpheus8 is considered appropriate across every Fitzpatrick skin type, including deeper tones that are often turned away from ablative lasers.

This is the one with actual downtime, so plan for it. Your skin is numbed with a topical anesthetic for about an hour first. The treatment takes 30 to 60 minutes and feels like warmth with brief pressure. Afterwards you look like you caught a moderate sunburn, with redness, warmth and a faint grid pattern that fades over two to three days.

Skip the gym, the hot tub and the lake for 48 hours and wear mineral sunscreen daily without exception.

Most plans run three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Skin looks and feels firmer between weeks four and eight, full results appear around three months, and improvement can continue for up to six months as collagen remodeling finishes.

Results commonly hold for one to two years. It also works on the body, which makes it a common choice after weight loss or pregnancy. Depths, tip sizes and treatment areas are covered on the Morpheus8 page.

RF Microneedling With Exion: The Skin Quality Option

Emface and Morpheus8 sit at two ends of a spectrum. Exion RF microneedling sits comfortably in the middle, and it is often where we start when the concern is skin quality rather than structural sagging: enlarged pores, rough texture, fine lines, mild crepiness, early acne scarring.

The mechanism is the same family as Morpheus8, needles plus radiofrequency heat, but the BTL Exion platform adds AI driven feedback that reads tissue response in real time and adjusts energy as the handpiece moves. That keeps depth consistent across very different tissue, from thin under eye skin to a thicker jawline.

There is also an Exion Clear setting for active, oily, breakout prone skin, and a needle free Exion Face option that can finish the session.

Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes after about half an hour of numbing. Expect a sunburn like flush for a day, then a day or two of fine sandpaper texture as the micro channels close. Most patients complete three to four sessions about a month apart, notice change at two to four weeks and see full results between three and six months. A typical plan is described on our RF microneedling with Exion page.

How to Choose

Match the treatment to the concern rather than to the marketing. In practice, the decision usually comes down to four questions.

  • Is your main issue lift or texture? Sagging cheeks, a heavy brow and softening contours point to Emface. Lined, rough or scarred skin points to a microneedling option.
  • How much downtime can you take? If you cannot look pink for a few days, Emface is the only one of the three with genuinely zero recovery.
  • How advanced is the laxity? Early changes respond well to Exion. Moderate laxity along the jawline and neck usually needs the depth of Morpheus8.
  • Are needles a dealbreaker? Emface involves none at all, which decides it for a fair number of patients.

Combining is common and often smarter than picking one. A frequent plan pairs muscle work on the midface with a microneedling series for skin quality, staged so the skin heals between sessions. Severe sagging with significant excess skin is a different conversation, and we will tell you honestly if surgery would serve you better.

What All Three Have in Common

None of these treatments is a single visit event. They all trigger collagen remodeling that plays out over months, which means the series matters more than the device you choose. Finish the protocol, come back for maintenance, and protect the result.

In this climate that last part is not optional: unprotected sun exposure breaks collagen down faster than any device can rebuild it, so daily broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher is the cheapest maintenance treatment available.

Screening matters too. All three use radiofrequency, so implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers rule them out, and pregnancy or breastfeeding means waiting. Active infection or open skin in the treatment area postpones a session. Bring your full medication list to your consultation. For patients who prefer to spread payments, we work with Cherry and CareCredit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which skin tightening treatment is the most effective?

There is no single winner, because the three treat different problems. Emface produces the most visible lift because it strengthens facial muscle alongside the skin. Morpheus8 delivers the deepest remodeling and is the strongest choice for moderate laxity, jawline definition and scarring. Exion RF microneedling is the best fit for texture, pores and early laxity. The right answer depends on what you see in the mirror.

How soon will I see a difference?

Sooner than the full result, but not immediately. Most patients notice early firmness two to four weeks after starting. Contour changes become clearly visible around four to six weeks with Emface, and skin looks noticeably smoother and firmer between weeks four and eight after microneedling. Peak results land near three months for all three, because that is how long new collagen takes to organize itself.

How long do the results last?

Emface results typically hold about a year, with maintenance sessions every three to six months. Morpheus8 and Exion results generally last one to two years. Longevity depends heavily on sun protection, smoking, stable weight and skincare habits, which is why two patients treated the same day can be in very different places 18 months later.

Do these treatments hurt?

Emface does not. It feels warm, with rhythmic muscle contractions and no numbing needed. Both microneedling options use topical numbing cream and are usually described as heat with brief pressure rather than pain. Comfort is adjustable, and your provider checks in throughout the session.

Can I have these treatments in the summer here?

Yes, with more planning. Treated skin is temporarily more sensitive to ultraviolet light, so we ask you to avoid deliberate sun exposure for about two weeks before a microneedling session and to stay disciplined with mineral SPF afterwards. Plenty of patients schedule their series through the cooler months for exactly this reason.

Are these safe for darker skin tones?

Radiofrequency does not target pigment the way many lasers do, and the insulated needle design keeps energy below the surface, so both Morpheus8 and Exion are used across the full range of Fitzpatrick skin types. Conservative energy settings and strict sun protection are what keep post inflammatory hyperpigmentation risk low, so provider experience matters more than the device brand.
